What is National Fishing Week

If you'd like to try fishing then National Fishing Week is your big chance. All over the country qualified coaches give their time to welcome newcomers to a marvellous sport. Fees are generally waived and tackle is often made available free of charge too. There really is no better time to experience this healthy, stress-busting, outdoor activity and you might even get to take your tea home too!

If you already fish then National Fishing Week is your chance  to share your passion by organising, promoting  or helping with an event - every new face could become a keen angler and a champion of the sport you love.

National Fishing Week embraces all disciplines within the sport, namely Sea, Coarse and Game Fishing so there should be a chance to get involved somewhere near you.

Had A Break from Fishing?

If you've had a break from fishing because of work or family commitments and aren't sure about getting back in to the sport National Fishing Week is for you too.

Many of the events offer a chance to try a new type of fishing or just revive some old skills all with free qualified support available if you need it. There's no rod license to pay for either so you've really got nothing to lose by giving fishing another try!

What is the aim of National Fishing Week?

The aim of National Fishing Week is twofold:

  1. To improve the lifestyle of youngsters, women, retired or disabled people by introducing them into the sport of angling and all its various aspects as an enjoyable, relaxing, therapeutic and environmentally friendly pastime.
  2. To increase awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.

What is actually going to happen?

From the 19-27th July the length and breadth of the United Kingdom there will be 100’s of locally organised angling events offering non-anglers the opportunity to be taught how to fish, FREE OF CHARGE, by a qualified licensed Coach and within a controlled environment.
